Invitation to the Worldcamp
July 2003 in the Philippines

Antwerp, 23rd of October 2002

Dear friends !

After the General Assembly, where the decision was taken to organise a worldcamp, the ICB did a lot of investigation for a possible hosting organisation. We decided to go to the Philippines, and after our visit there at the end of August, we are glad to present you some more information about the World Camp 2002.

As you undoubtfully heard in the recent news, the Philippines is a troubled country. Important to know is that it is quite a big country (about the size of Italy), and it consists of more than 7000 islands. It is on some of the southern Islands that the troubles are (like kidnapping and bomb attacks). It is clear that the worldcamp will in no way be held in that region. We will stay on the main Island (Luzon), where the situation is quiet, and one part of the group will travel to the Island Cebu, which is also a very peaceful environment. It has to be said that some weeks ago there has been a bombing in Manila, which worried us a lot.

But we don’t want to stop the project now, we promise that we follow the situation very close, and if a certain moment we feel that we cannot guarantee the safety of the participants, we will cancel the whole project.

On this internet page you will find a description of the project, with the participating conditions and an inscription form.

Number of participants

The total number of participants (without the people of the Philippines) will be 50. With the organising team and some members of Chiro Philippines, the total number will not exceed 80 participants. Most of the member federations can send two participants to the world Camp. For the bigger organisations, it might be 3 or 4 participants.

Your organisation received a letter in which was indicate how many participants they can send to the World Camp. If you are interested, don’t hesitate to take up contact with your national organisation, as the inscriptions will be passed to Fimcap through the national organisation!

Don't throw away this opportunity, as it will be an great experience .

Fees and travel costs

  • The participants of the European member organisations from countries with HDI>0,9 will pay their own flight completely.
  • It is clear that each organisation can look for financial means to support the participants. Fimcap will probably provide a promotion gadget that could be sold to friends and relatives.
  • We would like the European Organisations to contribute to the general costs of the world camp.
  • Fimcap will take care to reimburse partly the flight tickets of participants coming from a country with an HDI < 0,9 if this is necessary and wished.
  • The participants from HDI > 0,9 countries will pay a participation of 300 USD for the Camp.
  • The participants from HDI < 0,9 countries will pay 150 USD
  • an information brochure in the frame of the world camp.
  • after the inscription: other informations on the camp, what to take along and some informations about the necessary medical precautions.
  • information on the Philippines.
  • the needed support of the Chiro Philippine team, Intercontinental Bureau and presidium.
  • an insurance for the whole camp period, if the costs are not yet covered by an own insurance.

We will introduce applications for financial support wherever possible. If you have any interesting address and in the case you cannot introduce the application yourself, please, let us know.

Inscriptions (and waiting lists) must arrive at the international Fimcap secretariat before 1 February 2003. The Intercontinental Bureau in March 2003 will decide on the still vacant places and will inform the organisations about the number of vacant places for their people on the waiting lists.

What can the participants expect from us?

If you are interested or want more information or clarification, please do contact us at the Fimcap secretariat.
